👉 It means to accidentally get rid of something valuable while trying to get rid of something unwanted.
Basically, don’t throw away the good along with the bad!
Origin:
The phrase comes from a time when families used one tub of water for bathing. The water would be so dirty by the time the baby was washed last that there was a risk of accidentally throwing the baby out with the dirty water.
