Spanish subjunctive trigger: No creo que
Hello everyone. This week’s subjunctive trigger is No creo que (I don’t believe or I don’t think). Important note: if you use Creo que, it is NOT subjunctive. NO creo que is ALWAYS subjunctive, to my limited knowledge, but don't get lost in the grammar. As @Tony Marsh says, the verb does what it does. So just go with it. Here are my cups as examples of creo que (not subjunctive) vs no creo que (subjunctive). Here is my vocabulary to “fill the cup.” Creo que-I believe it’s a good idea. I believe he is right. I believe they know the answer. For No creo que-using the subjunctive: I don’t believe it’s a good idea. I don’t believe he’s right. I don’t believe they know the answer. Btw, I used chat gpt to come up with these sentences. It’s a good resource to use.
