Monday Challenge: Your Job Isn't to Be Needed
The Problem:
A leader can become addicted to being the person with all the answers.
The Truth:
Your success isn't measured by how many problems you personally solve.
It's measured by how many problems your people become capable of solving without you.
The Challenge:
The next time someone brings you a problem they could reasonably solve themselves:
Don't solve it.
Ask:
"What do you think we should do?"
Then listen.
If their answer is good enough (~70% in the right direction), let them own it.
If it's not, coach them toward a better answer instead of giving them yours.
Accountability:
How will you remind yourself to ask instead of answering?
Can you make your reminder something you’ll see?
