Lick Of The Week
Challenge! Play this line and post it. This one is like a little cell that you can easily expand or just use on its own. There are 4 levels to this challenge, you can pick which one is most doable for you right now…. 1- Exactly the same as myself, in C Major 2- Try it in a few different keys 3- Start like I do and finish it off a little differently. 4- improvise over a backing track and use this line in your improv My 46 lines course in the classroom has a number of lines that work in a similar way (they are a little more straight forward and all in G) all transcribed and explained fully. Get hold of it here https://www.skool.com/jazzviolin/classroom

Tune Of The Month - I Love You (Archer)
Hey all, The etude Im putting together this month is all based on the changes of "I Love You" by Harry Archer. It's a tune that Django and Stephane played together and is actually based on a really common progression. The progression often gets called a "Rag" because it's quite similar to the blowing section of "Tiger Rag". There are tons of tunes that follow this progression in early jazz/swing so its worth getting used to playing over it. The full transcription of this and the rest of the solo will be available for all Premium and VIP members and we will be picking the solo apart in the Jazz Violin Practise Club over the next little while. I'm halfway done with the etude and will be adding the rest by midweek complete with a few bowings too. Upgrade HERE

Practise Club Tonight Postponed!
Turns out the internet here isn’t going to allow me to give a good lesson. (I’m actually at the Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight which some of you may know or be about to get to know). I’m going to do tonight lesson on Thursday night 6pm UK time instead. Hope that will work for you! That’s Thursday 14th 6pm UK Time. Anyone in Premium who wants to come and join us, just let me know! Changed it all in the calendar for you too. Matt
What are you working on this weekend?
I’m on the Isle of Wight this weekend for a family holiday. (I’m away a lot this month, family calls!) But I’d love to know what everyone in this great community is up to. Maybe you’re hard at in the practise room, maybe you are just working on making better sour dough bread? Matt
