Reframing Emotions As Messages
I was listening to a podcast by Gabor Mate were they were talking about the importance of listening to anger.
It is a defence mechanism, a way of protecting you from the environment, but one that typically gets repressed or suppressed by parents, society, and ultimately the individual.
This leaves us helpless when we need it.
The reframe is to consider emotions as messages. And to not run from them, but to embrace them, to listen to them, and to allow them to let you know what you need.
And then act accordingly.
I’ve noticed that as I heal, I’m able to feel, express, and process my anger far more thoroughly and deeply than I ever have before.
And I’m wondering if you were noticing the same?
