I booked a one-way ticket to Spain.

I still remember that day just before my flight when I told my best friends that I’m leaving Canada to teach English part-time in Mallorca.
They looked at me and asked if I was dumb. “How the hell are you going to make enough money to survive? We’re in the middle of a pandemic bro!”

It broke my heart to leave without the approval of my closest people, but I went anyway.

While I left my mom at the airport with tears in her eyes, I remember landing that day and being surrounded by luxurious beaches with a breath of fresh air for trusting my gut!

I can't help but wonder how much richer my life could have been if I had always trusted myself instead of seeking the approval of others.
If you’re too afraid of disappointing the people you love, don’t waste years of your life before choosing yourself.
I have built everything I have today because I stopped listening to other people’s fears and followed my heart.
