Can Your Inner Critic Increase Weight Loss Resistance? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ
or contribute to other chronic health issues? Absolutely, it can!
We spend a lot of time talking about food, exercise, hormones, and metabolism β€” but what about the conversation happening inside our head every day?
Your inner critic creates an emotional response, and that emotional response creates a physiological response that can affect cravings, cortisol, inflammation, emotional eating, and weight loss resistance. Check out the chart below to see how this works in your body.
And sometimes those patterns began years ago. Trauma, severe challenges, and prolonged periods of stress can continue affecting how our body responds today β€” often without our realizing it until we become aware of the pattern.
In my new video, I talk about one of my favorite tools for changing that response: HeartMath.
In a small stress and weight management pilot, participants practiced HeartMath techniques for about 10 minutes twice a day and experienced significant weight loss along with reductions in waist and hip measurements β€” without calorie restriction being the focus of the program. They also experienced a profound change in their overall well-being feeling happier, more energetic with less brain fog.
Imagine what can happen when we combine that kind of emotional and physiological regulation with nutrition, hormone balance, movement, sleep, EFT, mirror work, journaling, and the other holistic tools we use in our program.
Have you noticed your inner critic affecting your eating, cravings, body image, or ability to reach your health goals?
I’d love to hear your experience below. 🌸
