What are your summer plans (GK-wise)?
With the season coming to an end soon — league, training sessions, tournaments — I was wondering what everyone is planning to do over the summer from a goalkeeping perspective.
Are your kids (or yourselves as gks) taking a complete break, doing some light individual training, joining camps, or just enjoying other sports for a while?
In our case, I’ll be signing my son up for a 3-week summer camp. It’s fully focused on goalkeeper-specific training, running from 9am to 4pm, with healthy snacks and lunch included, plus a couple of hours in the pool to survive the heat 😅 He actually went last year as well, and both he and we were really happy with the experience.
The camp can actually be booked week by week, and if it was up to Lizer he’d probably stay there all summer… but that might be a bit too expensive for me 😉
To be honest, it also helps a lot with work-life balance — while they’re there, we can actually focus on work knowing they’re busy doing something they enjoy, well looked after… and fed too! Here in Spain, kids get almost two months off school, while most of us are lucky if we get one month of holidays… so it’s a great way to keep him active, improving, and enjoying himself at the same time.
Curious to hear what everyone else is doing!
