It was a very evenly matched game, ended in 0-0! I played the whole match and made some very good saves, in particular, a 1v1 save in the second half which I was very happy with. Then, in the first half, my defence were all in the opposition half and the opposition kicked the ball up the pitch so it was me vs an opposition player, I made the decision not to stay in my box and wait for the shot or 1v1 because as most keepers know, the odds would of been against me in that situation. I sprinted out and we both reached the ball at the same time, because of the momentum of the ball being trapped between both of our feet she went flying forwards and the ball went forwards aswell (not near the player though), because of my tackle, she was on the floor which allowed my defender to get to the ball and me to get back into the goal. It was a great split second decision which if I hadn’t made, they probably would have scored.
Several brave saves in the second half which had my mum and the parents of my teammates freaking out 🤣🤣🤣 They said they didn’t really feel like going to A&E on a Sunday morning and I shouted back “no promises” which made them laugh 😂
I had a good game and got lots of praise from the parents and my coaches, with one parent coming up to me and saying I was their player of the match, and before the game, a parent came up to me and told me that I was amazing in the last match. My mum said that all the parents were telling her that they thought I deserved player of the match last match, it turns out that the opposition team knew the player they gave it to, which makes a lot more sense.
I think my coaches are finally starting to realise that I’m just as good, if not better, than the other keeper! I just need to keep proving myself to them 😃
Now a break with no matches or training until the 4th of January where we play the 6th in the league (we are 7th) in a must win match for us to get into the top league for when the league splits, otherwise it will be a very boring second half of the season with us beating teams quite convincingly with no real challenge. Our league is very odd, we have 4 extremely good teams, 4 very bad teams, 1 ok team and 3 good teams, my team is a good team, where we beat the bad and ok teams convincingly but struggle against the extremely good teams. There just simply isn’t enough teams to have fair leagues that are competitive for all teams involved! I don’t mind it though because it means that I get lots of action against the higher teams, whilst also getting the satisfaction of winning, in a good team with nice girls, that actually try. The atmosphere is so much nicer with this team than my old one, the other players are really nice and we all get along, the coaches are nice and care about our development, and the training sessions are good and well structured, my mum said to me yesterday that this team is so much more enjoyable to watch, and I definitely agree, it’s a lot more fun to play with them and I’m really enjoying it! Ok, rant over, sorry about the long post 🤣🤣🤣
