I just saw a quote on Facebook (from The Whole Horse Journey) saying that the leadrope is a direct line between two beings. What you send down the line comes back to you amplified.
They listed some states you may be sending down the leadrope - calm, chaos, groundedness, grasping.
It made me think.
Leading Ronnie feels chaotic and I always thought it was because he's tricky (and he is).
But perhaps I'm anticipating that and sending it down the line to him.
The 'grasping' is what really got me though.
I try really hard to have my body relaxed, especially all down the side I'm leading him - shoulder, arm, hip, leg. I try really hard to relax my jaw and my forehead. I try really hard to keep the line relaxed. I try really hard to regulate my breathing.
Oh! I try really hard. Grasping.
Wow.
Something to be mindful of, for sure 🫶
