Good morning all! Wanted to share a lil budget friendly set it and forget it crock pot setup I did today! Its a favorite of my family's and I think some of you will appreciate the simplicity and heaviness of the meal as well. Ham Bean Soup You will need a 6 quart crock pot. Ingredients 1 bag of dried 15 Bean soup with ham flavor packet 1/2 bag dried northern beans 1 can cream of celery soup 1 stick of butter 1/2 to a pound of precooked ham, diced depending how "hammy" you want it to be Enough water to cover everything and then a little more. The beans will absorb and pretty much double in size providing a several-night meal for a family of 6!! Youre gonna rinse your dry beans and search them for little rocks. Sometimes they get past the production line. You dont want broken teeth! Pop them in the bottom of a clean crock pot. Make sure its off until you put everything in there and secure the lid. Chop up your ham however big or small of bite sizes you want and plop it in there. Add the ham seasoning from the 15 Bean soup bag. Sometimes they dont come with them, and thats ok. You have ham already I just appreciate the bullion taste. Add your cold stick of butter and your cream of celery soup on top of that and then fill it up with water like I said Cook on high for 8 hours, check on it throughout the day and add more water as rhe beans absorb so you dont get like. A clumpy mess. Thats it! Enjoy it with anything youd like, I tend to make corn muffins with ours. I also sprinkle a little dry parsley once its bowled to make it look like I really did something special.
