QUESTIONS ABOUT COMMERCIAL AUTO INSURANCE
I’ve been digging into COMMERCIAL AUTO INSURANCE here in New Jersey, and man… the numbers are wild. 😅 I’ve seen quotes hit $35,000 PER YEAR for my roll-off truck. Out of curiosity, I checked rates in Fort Worth, Texas — where my son lives — and I’ve gotten quotes as low as $7,000 A YEAR. 🤯 Here’s where the confusion starts:One agent says I can classify under EQUIPMENT RENTALS, and another guy says it MUST be DEBRIS REMOVAL. I’m stuck in the middle because, honestly, both are kinda true. I DO rent the dumpster… but I’m also handling debris. And God forbid something flies out of the can and causes an accident — if I’m misclassified, I could be in real trouble. ⚠️ So I’m just trying to figure out WHAT CLASSIFICATION YOU GUYS USE, and what kind of RATES others in the industry are actually getting. My truck is almost 20 YEARS OLD, and I’m only putting a STATED VALUE OF $50,000 on it. Yet these NJ quotes are coming in sky-high — the cheapest so far is $27,000. It seems like PROGRESSIVE is the only carrier even willing to touch this line of work in New Jersey right now. And of course, New Jersey wants $1.5 MILLION in LIABILITY minimum. 🧾💸 Yeah, I could choose equipment rentals just to save some money… but I have a feeling that could come back to BITE ME HARD if anything ever happened. 😬 Any thoughts? Anyone getting decent rates? Any carriers worth checking out?
