Assalamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters, Today inshallah I want to share something that has been weighing heavily on my heart since a while, not as a lecture, but as a gentle reminder to myself first, and then to all of you. We often speak of hijra, of leaving the west and migrating to a muslim land and thats a beautiful aspiration, one that many of us hold dearly in our hearts. But before we pack our bags and look for a new horizon, we must ask ourselves: have we done what we could, right here, right now? We are here, in the West, by the will of Allah alhamdulilah, anf with that comes a responsibility. We are not here by accident, we are witnesses, we are ambassadors of this deen, and we cannot simply turn our backs on the struggles of our time thinking that change will happen somewhere else, by someone else, someday. La, abadan. Change begins with us, with our intentions, our actions, and most importantly, our choices. Yes, our actions are judged by our intentions and thats a mercy from Allah swt, but let us not use that as an excuse to minimise what we can do. Intention alone is not enough when we are fully aware, because awareness brings accountability. If we know, we cannot pretend we don't. If we see, we cannot look away. If we have the means, we cannot remain silent. And one of the most powerful means we have, right here and right now, is our money. Our physical currency. The dollars, euros, pounds, dirhams and dinars we hold in our hands. We may not control the taxes we pay. We may not control where our governments send their support. We may not have a say in the policies of the land we live in. But we do have full control over our own wallets. Over every single coin and note that we spend. That is our power. And that is our responsibility. Every time we buy a product, we are voting with our money. We are saying yes to that company, to that system, to that cause. And if that product supports oppression, if it puts money in the pockets of those who are spilling the blood of our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Sudan and every other countries suffering, then we are complicit. Not by intention, but by action. And Allah swt sees all.
