Really grateful for my wife to be at home today looking after her two-year-old. She’s sick with a cough and a runny nose, and it makes me remember a few essential needs that I consider are really good for kids: 1. Strong, constant attachment to caring adults who are truly present 2. The security of knowing they don’t have to work or perform to keep their parents' love. They can simply rest in it. 3. The freedom to feel and express all of their emotions fully, without rejection or shame 4. Structured free play in nature. Not screens, not apps, just real open exploration. When these four needs are met, children thrive. When they’re missing, the damage shows up later in life. What are your thoughts on this? Do you have principles for children that you follow?

Walking home after a light rain, our little one spotted a row of puddles ahead. Visions of muddy clothes, slippery falls, or a sneaky cold flash through our minds. Unspoken decisions are washing through our minds. Do we helicopter parent, or do we let her have some fun? Sure, concerns about germs or scraped knees were with us, but the simple act of letting her jump fosters creativity, emotional regulation and a love for the outdoors that structured play often misses. We let her go. She had so much fun. Do you tend to hover, or do you allow adventure?

An unscheduled meeting with some high-level leaders has led to a massive win for a project I have been trying to get traction on for quite some time. Never give up if you truly believe in what you’re doing. Stay true to yourself, believe in yourself and eventually your day will come. You may have bad days in between, but hopefully they’re just minor speed bumps on the road to adventure.

Grateful AF watching my daughter prepare for a swim carnival. She’s gotta be able to swim 50 m without stopping in any stroke that she likes.
