How To Set Your Goals For 2025 (DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE)
There’s a reason why you keep failing to achieve your New Year's goals, year after year.
And it’s because you’ve been setting goals WRONG your entire life.
You might have heard of the “S.M.A.R.T” framework to set goals – yeah, that’s bullshit.
By the end of this post, you’ll see why and you’ll never make this mistake again.
The first thing I need you to realize, and this is going to sound contradictory: DO NOT set a 2025 goal.
In theory, new years goals sound amazing. You have 365 days to accomplish whatever you want.
So people set goals. “$10k/month by the end of 2025” “Learn a new language by the end of 2025”, etc.
The problem with that is they’ve unintentionally set a TIME LIMIT for themselves.
So if they don’t achieve their goal by the end of those 12 months, they technically failed.
Thus, they end up subconsciously viewing themselves as failures. “I wasted a whole fucking year. What’s wrong with me? I’m never going to be successful”
And really and truly, there are no truths in your reality except for what your subconscious mind accepts as true.
So if your subconscious believes you to be a failure, then you shall be.
You’ll end up sabotaging your own results without even knowing or trying to.
And as a result, you will stay poor until you have a paradigm shift and retrain your subconscious mind for success (which 99% never do, and so they spend years in poverty and lack)
But luckily, all of that is completely AVOIDABLE.
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” - Benjamin Franklin
So REMOVE the timeframe.
I need you to completely remove the idea of “2025 goals” and “New Year's Resolutions” - fuck all that.
Because people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in a decade.
So instead of creating a “2025 goal”, create a DECADE long goal.
Whoever has the longest time horizon, wins. Every single time.
If you think long (10-20 years into the future), you will dominate EVERYONE because you’ll naturally make different daily decisions.
But no one has patience. Everyone wants to hit $10k/month in 6 months.
So they go for easy cash grabs. They say yes to every opportunity that comes their way. Thus, they constantly divert their attention with zero direction of where they want to be past 6 months into the future.
So they end up building a shit product and a bad reputation. Because thinking only about next month causes you to rush shit.
You have to build your foundations first or you will eventually plateau and give up.
So instead of thinking “Shit, it’s been 30 days and I’m still making $X”, think of the money you’ll make 5-10 years from now. That’s how you get to the top. And that’s exactly how the most successful people think.
So create a HUGE decade long goal. Ex: “$1 Million/month” “1 Million Subscribers on YouTube” “Be #1 in my niche” etc
After all, there’s nothing more motivating than committing to being the best in the world at something.
So if you haven’t already, go create that goal RIGHT NOW. Don’t put this off. This could literally change your life forever.
Once you’ve done that, solely focus on doing the day-to-day activities to reach it.
Don’t focus on the decade goal. That’s only meant to guide your daily activities.
Instead, only focus on doing all the inputs you can in a day, every single day, pushing yourself as hard as you can, and following your routine without fail.
And by only focusing on the daily inputs, you’ll move faster than everyone else and accomplish their New Years goals in 6 months.
Because when you think long, you move fast.
So set daily input goals for yourself. “100 cold calls everyday” “100 dms everyday” “Make 3 videos a week”, etc.
And constantly ask yourself “Am I on track to hitting my 10-20 year goal with the daily activities I’m working on?”
So you should have two goals. One for your 10-20 year goal. One for your daily inputs to hit that goal.
Also, just an extra note: DON'T tell ANYONE about your goals. They will only give you positive reinforcement to make you feel as if you’ve already achieved your goal and you’ll get lazy.
So by telling other people about your goals, it just decreases the chance that it’ll come true.
But that’s it. Hope you enjoyed.
Think long,
Andrew
