Timeline is hard to follow

My student recently asked me if there is a way to make the timeline chronological, or how the timeline algorithm worked. I most of the time have to rely on my notifications to tell me what I've missed, and sometimes I've completed missed a post (I have to scroll down a bit to see it).

Is the timeline chronological at the moment? I am probably doing something wrong and I'd love guidance. My students and I's timeline is all messed up - some posts are older and some posts are newer and it's hard to find what just got posted.
