The Conversation They Cannot Hear
A conversation turns toward someone who is not present. One criticism leads to another, and you have grievances of your own to contribute. Joining in might feel satisfying for the moment—but what would it do to your own character?
Bahá’u’lláh asks: “How couldst thou forget thine own faults and busy thyself with the faults of others?”
He further counsels: “Breathe not the sins of others so long as thou art thyself a sinner.”
—The Hidden Words, Arabic Nos. 26–27
