Often when I post about public speaking, and people being nervous about it, I get comments back about how needed my work is - working with new or nervous “speakers” (think beyond keynotes, but workshops and podcasts and video content, on and on).
There are multiple says having to do with not dimming your light, and not holding yourself back and my thoughts are yes! Those!
One thing I hear often from nervous-to-be-in-fron-of-people-people is they don’t want to look “stupid.” Another thing is they don’t know what to say. Another is the question of what if I forget where I am?
And, yes those are all huge for that person. The anxiety is real. I have walked in those shoes.
And while I was walking in those shoes I started seeing just how impactful our messages can be. What we have to say to others (live or recorded) can change lives.
If you are nervous - or terrified - to be in front of others, I get you. And I challenge you to make a decision to do it anyhow! And if you want support on your journey, I’ve got you!
