Imagine if ChatGPT remembered how you workāyour preferences, your style, your recurring questionsāand used that to make your experience smarter and smoother.
Well⦠now it can. š
On May 8th, OpenAI rolled out enhanced memory for all Plus and Pro users, including those of us in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Thatās a big deal.
But thereās a catch:
š Itās OFF by default. Youāve got to turn it on manually:
Settings ā Personalization ā Reference Chat History
š¬ So, Whatās Changing?
ā
If youāre a Plus or Pro user, you get access to both Saved Memories and Chat History.
š Free users? Youāll still get Saved Memories, but not full chat history.
ā If youāve opted out before, ChatGPT will NOT remember your conversations unless you go back in and enable memory again.
š¤ Why Should You Care?
This means you can now:
- Stop re-explaining your workflow or goals every time.
- Build on past chats with real continuity.
- Let ChatGPT ālearnā your tone, tools, and preferences.
āYour Turn: Are You Turning It On?
š Have you enabled memory yet?
š If you have, what would you want ChatGPT to remember about you?
Drop a comment š and letās swap ideas. Iām especially curious:
What do you think is the BEST thing for ChatGPT to remember to help you work faster or smarter?
Letās get a conversation going!
