🧠 ChatGPT Just Got a Memory Upgrade… But Only If You Want It
Imagine if ChatGPT remembered how you work—your preferences, your style, your recurring questions—and used that to make your experience smarter and smoother.
Well… now it can. šŸ™Œ
On May 8th, OpenAI rolled out enhanced memory for all Plus and Pro users, including those of us in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. That’s a big deal.
But there’s a catch:
šŸ“Œ It’s OFF by default. You’ve got to turn it on manually:
Settings → Personalization → Reference Chat History
šŸ’¬ So, What’s Changing?
āœ… If you’re a Plus or Pro user, you get access to both Saved Memories and Chat History.
šŸ†“ Free users? You’ll still get Saved Memories, but not full chat history.
ā›” If you’ve opted out before, ChatGPT will NOT remember your conversations unless you go back in and enable memory again.
šŸ¤” Why Should You Care?
This means you can now:
  • Stop re-explaining your workflow or goals every time.
  • Build on past chats with real continuity.
  • Let ChatGPT ā€œlearnā€ your tone, tools, and preferences.
ā“Your Turn: Are You Turning It On?
šŸ‘‰ Have you enabled memory yet?
šŸ‘‰ If you have, what would you want ChatGPT to remember about you?
Drop a comment šŸ‘‡ and let’s swap ideas. I’m especially curious:
What do you think is the BEST thing for ChatGPT to remember to help you work faster or smarter?
Let’s get a conversation going!
