Love this, Mark — such a simple but powerful system. I’ve been experimenting with my own “indexing” to keep dozens of ongoing chats organized, but your list takes it to another level. Going to start incorporating a bunch of these today. Thanks for sharing!
Intuit just signed a $100M deal with OpenAI… here's why that matters for accountants
Big news: Intuit (the company behind QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Mailchimp) has partnered with OpenAI to deeply integrate AI into their product ecosystem. This means apps like QuickBooks will soon be able to connect directly to ChatGPT. So, what does that mean for us in the accounting space? 🧠 AI-powered workflows are about to get much more practical inside tools we already use 💬 Client conversations, forecasting, and compliance could soon include real-time GPT guidance 💻 ChatGPT connectors to QuickBooks may reshape how we do reconciliations, reports, and insights 💡 Opportunity for firms who understand AI first—before clients do it themselves And one big thought: If this becomes mainstream, how will your firm differentiate itself? I’d love to know… 👉 Are you using any GPT integrations or AI tools inside accounting platforms yet? 👉 How do you see this shift impacting your work? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇 (And if you want to read more, here’s the original article: TechCrunch link)

@Mark Wickersham Mark, that’s a great perspective. The evolution from GPT 3.5 to where we are now really says a lot about how quickly the technology can mature. I agree — many of today’s frustrations will likely fade, but it does raise an important question about what our role becomes. I think the real opportunity will be for professionals who lean into higher-level thinking, judgment, and client strategy, rather than just processing the numbers. The tools may change, but the need for experienced insight won’t.

@Jessica Fox Jessica, that sounds fantastic — I love how you’ve got everything so tightly integrated and working for you in the background. I’m still on QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, though, and would love to have similar AI-driven functionality for bank feeds, reconciliations, and workflow. Are you familiar with any platforms or tools that can do something like what Double/Keepful are doing, but for Desktop?
😲 This Is Crazy
Did you know that you currently can’t change your email address inside ChatGPT? Have you thought about the consequences? For example: - If you’re on a Team plan and someone joins with their work email, they can’t take their account with them if they leave later. - If you’re rebranding your business and want to update your email, you can’t change it to your new business address. - And if you use ChatGPT for both personal and business, should you consider having two separate accounts to keep things organised? 👉 I’d love to hear your thoughts on this — how do you think OpenAI should handle it? I get that they’re prioritizing security, but it’s frustrating that there’s no middle ground. A simple verification process could solve this without compromising account integrity.
