FOLLOW ME FOR A SEC! Pick a Fun Memory! Any Memory! A time where it was non stop smiles and laughs Remember the Place, Who Was There, The Time of Day, What was said, what you ate! Picture this Moment! How did it feel? Where did you feel it? Create the Scene! Now Move as you did when you were in that moment! Wiping your tears of laughter, stomach hurting and bending over laughing so hard, head feeling light headed from it. This is Shadowboxing!! It’s not just visualizing the punch coming at you, it’s the feeling that something is coming at you that gets your body to respond properly. THE FEELING is the secret to Shadowboxing!! I’m sure when you created the scene apart of you can remember that time and your body naturally responded to the memory with a little smirk. THAT is what you bring into your shadowboxing. When you feel it your body will respond naturally when the actual person tries to punch you. FEEL the impact of you hand hitting someone! No not the physical knuckles within gloves but the FEELING of landing a punch with ease. And not just one several combos landing! Capture the feeling of every punch flying past you. The Secret to Shadowboxing
We ALL STARTED SOMEWHERE!!
So I wanted to give perspective at the expense of how ridiculous I feel I look in this video. Believe it or Not I was training people still looking like this ahahah😂 Now on the serious tip this was circa 2017-2018 I believe! So before 6 gates before Film Study it was a tennis ball wrapped in duck tape hanging from a $5 dollar rope from Home Depot! And just trying to figure it all out. The spirit of Boxing teaching those who are willing to learn. Key is WILLING! Asking questions, trying things out, making mistakes, leave and then comeback to frame of mind to see what changed. So when you watch this video. Pay attention to the flaws and bad technique because we ALL START SOMEWHERE and Thank God it didn’t Stop HERE. Keep going on your journey and grow NOW HAVE A GOOD LAUGH 😂 BECAUSE I AM

We ALL STARTED SOMEWHERE!!
Thoughts after Sparring Today
So a couple takeaways This is after reviewing myself in footage: Feet Got Flat Head Movement Non Existent Overextended gates Control Game Mediocre Took Too many Hits Hands down more then needed Wouldn’t be Exhausted after what is technically only 6 rounds Defense: D Jabs: D+ Gates: C- Key Combos: D NOW THIS IS TRUE! BUT IM SURE MY STUDENTS WOULD THINK OTHERWISE! Based on their performance in relation to me! So here is the issue! COMPARISON BECOMES A CRUEL MISTRESS or THE SPECIAL SAUCE TO GETTING BETTER! COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS…you lose…COMPARE YOURSELF to yourself IMPROVEMENT If this become your psyche your run the risk of destroying yourself everytime you face someone with more skills then you. BUT IF YOU ask yourself did I do better then last me you WILL IMPROVE! Now check this out with comparing myself to myself Caught myself Being More Flat Footed. Work On Gates Remind yourself to move your head to get hit less When working on Gates make them simple Work on Controls during shadowboxing Improve defense by increasing rounds of working on defense Drill high hand coverages Increase Cardio Let’s Get All C’s on Report Card This Week Notice the difference, same critic but one is under the lens of improvement not tearing down! Keep this with you and you will always grow in this sport!
Something To Ponder When You Spar!
Nature rewards Outcomes Not Hard Work Has this ever happen to you where you are Thinking about your opponent and what they are going to do, Then suddenly you shoot back into your brain trying to remember a combo to throw, Then your opponent decides to move in the midst of that thought, so then you have to address what they are doing By The time you figure it out you get hit! Then for whatever reason the process starts all over again! Now your left in survival mode saying Hit him now or Watch Out! Just typing this made me exhausted! Lol Truth is that is all Hard work, and as you can see it does nothing! Now on the flip side! Have you every just thrown a punch and didn’t know if it was going to land and yet it did Baffling because it felt like it wasn’t even you that threw it. If you haven’t experienced that then what about when a coach or someone tells you DO THIS! And sure enough it actually worked So let’s make sense of this conundrum. I get hit if i think too much, but i do better when I’m not thinking, but isn’t Boxing A Thinking Mans Sport! Solution: Thinking and Obsessing are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! To Think is to Ponder and to Obsess is to hold on to a particular outcome that may or may not happen. THIS GOES AGAINST NATURE!! So in boxing How not to Obsess: STRUCTURED PLAY!! Or SYSTEMATIC FUN! Notice how these Plants grow freely yet they follow a very specific system on how they develop(Phosynthesis) I.e: 16 Round system! 4 - Defense/Gates/Feints 4- Jabs/Defense/Gates/Feints 4- Key Combos and Key Concepts 4- Play(Shadowbox,Pads, Heavy Bag, Partner Drill etc) You will always resort back to the level of your training, BUT GET THIS IT GETS DEEPER! In Basketball and Football they have many different defenses and coverages. So does Boxing! BE READY FOR THIS NEXT WEEK! ITS GOING TO BE REVOLUTIONARY!

Some Thoughts For Your Training
Training Empty Is The Greatest Way to Train! “Empty” is not passive! Not I’ll just do whatever and I will become better! This thought process is folly! Have you ever walked into a newly renovated home or apartment that is completely empty. Feels good in the beginning but obviously no lives in an “EMPTY” home. We must place things in it that cater to our needs and desires at the given moment. Here is the Key….not becoming attached to the things in the apartment allows you to let go of what is in it and replace it with something better! Example: If You started with a Mini T.V after awhile you out grow it and then get a bigger one. Notice you still have a T.V just a bigger version of that T.V You start with something basic, the Jab for instance. You learn to throw a standard Jab. You spend time with it by doing over and over again. Then after awhile you upgrade to throwing the double jab! Pay attention here this is where Flow and Structure meet. The basic did not change just your level of understanding did and how to use it. It Became BIGGER! Training Empty is picking something to work on and doing it over and over until the point the technique itself reveals more to you! So your not Working Out, you are allowing the Work to Express itself through you. That is how you train Empty!
