Valentino BIR Ivory: much better the second time around
I blind bought this one when it came out. Mostly because I collect the line and even though it sort of had an odd/ interesting, no breakdown. I thought I'd give it a shot. The first time out. It was a little bit disorganized is the best word like the notes didn't come together very well.
Fast forward a few months and I decided to use this as my evening fragrance on Sunday really impressed how it matured on the shelf. This time the lavender and creaminess felt much more balanced and the smoky/spicy notes - while it says woody notes I think there is some spice in there. Maybe it's it's just the spiciness of the cedar, something akin to nutmeg with the creaminess - were more nuanced and made more sense. It also was a very smooth and well transitioned into the dry down.
So while it's not a safe blind buy- it's a nice lavender scent with a little creaminess and a bit of depth and smoke. If you did buy it like me to have in the collection and it's been a few months it might be worth a second sniff.
