We went to three places, four of you count the High end Duty Free at terminal D at Vancouver international Airport aka YVR.
Great location and customer service. Retail space itself is small so can get crowded really quickly. We got lucky on our second trip that we were the only ones in the store and so we're able to really get our noses on the fragrances without without it distraction until somebody came in and sampled all of the strongest fragrances in the place. Gris Carnal for days.
They have a really great and friendly business model where they'll create travel-sized decals for you on the spot, and we're by far the most reasonable in terms of cost.
A good selection of pretty accessible niche and some smaller indie fragrances. Was glad to know they stopped both Untamed and Biblioteque de Parfums which I had discovered independently of their Discovery sets. While I can reliably order any of the latter directly from them the former, it might be easier to get their stuff from this place than their online store
10 out of 10.
Disclaimer: I haven't established relationship with them as I am a monthly subscriber to their Discovery set which is my way of getting to sample so much Niche stuff where I live.
Another small but mighty little shop run by a wonderful lady who knows her stuff and was quite willing to let me sample what she had and educate me a little bit. The only downside was no travel size or even samples to purchase based on her business model. Real pro of this little spot was that it had a little bit more Middle Eastern and other Niche like Memo Paris, and Ojar were two that I was excited to see.
9/10. Will be back for sure and likely order from her website for stuff I wouldn't easily find at any discounter.
Technically a department store their basement is a series of pop-ups for different luxury brands, was disappointed that they didn't have even a 30 ml of Absulu Aventus to purchase. Also the sample bottle was almost spent so reserving judgement on the scent until I can get a proper whiff.
Selection can be a little bit uneven, and because we went there first thing the customer service was also uneven depending on each service representative for the brand. So while the Guerlain rep was put of this world as an example whereas the Creed rep was actually the Le Labo rep covering both. For department store that size the selection could have been better, they didn't have Cuir Intense as well as Jicky or Habit Rouge.
Also the priciest by far but a luxe experience and recommend checking it out to sniff and sample. Note you have to purchase at each brand. I only say this because I had to answer a phone call from my bank on one of my last shopping trips there when they noticed multiple transactions in a very short time because I was jumping from one to the other.
7/10
Was a great experience. If you're ever in Vancouver, please check them out, if you I've ever been to any of them. Please feel free to argue, share stories, or adjust my score according to your own experiences in the comments below.
