I wore Megamare for a week.
I sampled this fragrance a few months ago and i thought it was weird and a bit too much for me. But i decided to get a bottle anyway because of how interesting it smells. Its like a repulsive scent but attracting at the same time. When i got the bottle and everything i felt like i got into the vibe of the fragrance more.
It opens up with some citrus notes and seaweed notes with a mettalic tinge. After about 30 minutes it turns into a sea monster, it almost has a rotting alge component to it with a heavy dose of ambroxan. It also has a strong musky tone which adds darkness to the fragrance. In the late drydown you also get woodsy notes with all of the other components. However i easily go noseblind to the fragrance while others pick it up constantly. I do occasionally get some whiffs of it but the only thing i pick up from that is like a chemical scent wich to some extent remind me of rubber. I have to smell my wrist to get all the components that it has.
At first when i sampled the fragrance a while back i didnt quite like it that much because it is kinda steril, almost like the smell of magazine papers or other very subtle scents. This one is the smell of the ocean tho. There is citrus in the fragrance but i still feel like there is nothing really bright about it. Its almost a bit depressing. Like there is nothing in the fragrance that tells you its a perfume etc.
However i made an 180 on the fragrance when i actually got the bottle and everything, it really got me into the vibe of the fragrance. The bottle design really speaks for what the fragrance is about.
The cap is a rusty metal piece with a mother of pearls on top. Its clean but with an edge to it. Its almost like the beauty i find in the color grey or the beauty i find in overcast days. Just that calm clean personality.
One last thing i will say about the fragrance is that it really captures the beauty of the raw open ocean. I love when a fragrance can transport you into a place, another example of that is Green Irish Tweed by Creed that transports you into a grassy field. This does something similar to that but it brings me into the open sea. It really gives me a realistic take on the ocean, its not like its trying to be a mojito drink or like a tropical paradise. Instead its almost like you would step out from a boat in the middle of the ocean on a overcast day and you get that ocean breeze.
Orto Parisi Megamare is dedicated to the sea and everything sea like. The sea, which is everything and nothing, evokes an infinite peaceful silence and at the same time endless stormy sounds.
Its very hard to describe the fragrance but i tried my best, peace out!
Edit: Heres some pictures that has the same vibe as megamare.
