FRAG REVIEW - Creed Neroli Sauvage
Hey guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya! Harvest time for millions of pounds of oranges produced in Florida occurs around January/February! I have the fortunate circumstance of living only a couple miles from an orange processing plant and the scent becomes very strong here during season. It got me thinking about orange and citrus fragrances, so I busted out this one to try on: Creed’s Neroli Sauvage.
A 1994 release, this is an Olivier Creed’s creation (presumably); however, with recent information shedding some unfavorable light on this house, I’m not absolutely sure! The scent is great though as test sprays I got a citrus blast that cleanses the palate. Standard sprays for the official wear and out the door I went!
Neroli Sauvage opens with an invigorating burst of top notes that just epitomizes the essence of a refined freshness. It unfolds with bright and zesty nuances of grapefruit and bergamot, led by a distinctive and uplifting aroma of neroli (of course!). Projection unfortunately, will be the best it’ll ever be, only ever soft in nature. Into the mid, the fragrance delves into a blend of floral and slightly herbal accords. The main character, neroli, which made a vibrant entrance in the top notes, takes on a more prominent role, intertwining with a slightly green, slightly zingy verbena. In the base, I get classic ambergris with hints of white musk adding a classy backdrop to an otherwise, very linear, very straightforward scent profile.
The overall experience of Creed Neroli Sauvage is a sensory delight, offering a perfect balance of freshness and elegance. Perfect for warm and hot weather, for outside or beach settings definitely! Cold weather wear may be possible, but given the soft projection, it’ll ultimately get lost in the day-to-day happenings. The fragrance seamlessly transitions through its sparse layers, and though linear in nature, makes it uber versatile, suitable for a wide variety of occasions. There is nothing here surprising or complex. Ultra clean, this fragrance is best suited for day wear and given its soft projection, it’s perfect for the office or gym. It’s not at all suitable for date nights or clubbing. Longevity is abysmal; I got 4 hours at most!
Final Verdict: Creed's Neroli Sauvage is a great summer Creed fragrance, if you just need a couple hours smelling good! Citrus heavy, the neroli is the main star here; however, it doesn’t last long at all. Very versatile, clean and mass pleasing, you can’t go wrong with it in a majority of situations.
Joe Average Rating (JAR®): A short review on a fragrance short on depth and complexity. Completely overpriced for what it gives you, I believe this one’s for the Creed fandom. Mass pleasing with almost universal versatility are the only things going for it so if you can scope up a bottle around the 100$ mark, then maybe worth getting. Not really worth it at any higher price point, especially retail!!! Other than that, no joy! There are better things out there for less!
