Next Up: MicroPerfumes. I’ve ordered from Microperfumes quite a few times, almost like I’ve bought them out! Always quick with a deal and it seems like they have one every day! Also, you really can’t browse YouTube or other social media sites without coming across their commercials. What a great marketing plan to reel you in, however, don’t let that shiny veneer fool you! Their selection of fragrances is the lowest of the five I’m reporting on (well under 1000)! They do have the most common, hyped-up fragrances, but the overwhelming majority is designer. They break out the fragrances into different groupings like by gender, brands, concentration and occasion. Available sizes are 0.75ml, 3ml and 5ml. The 5ml comes in a branded travel spray case (included in price).
As of this review, prices for a 5ml for some common frags are: Naxos (29.97), Layton (22.97), Angel’s Share (60.97) BR540-EDP (40.97), Aventus (37.79) and Cedrat Boise (12.97). The sample I purchased for these reviews is Cedrat Boise - 5ml.
Pricing of representative sample frags was substantially higher than the group average while pricing across their samples were also the most expensive! There’s this small “MicroPoints” accrual system you can get for discounts, but it’s literally a penny to every dollar spent! For as much as I’ve bought from MicroPerfumes, the most “MicroPoints” I’ve ever used was $1.26 worth!! I do see discount codes for up to 25% off that are readily available on the internet! Shipping options are sparse, with a free standard selection for purchases over $25, or pay extra for insured or express. MicroPerfumes does NOT work with SHOP, which is a shame because the added convenience and security that SHOP provides could be useful for this decanter!
After discounts and standard shipping, my total cost at MicroPerfumes was 15.32 USD which was above the average of 14.63 amongst the five decanters, ranking fourth least expensive (which is second most expensive) overall. One bright spot for MicroPerfumes is the fast shipping. I ordered Monday afternoon and received my package on Friday (CA to FL). Shipping packaging was a standard pliable envelope that always makes me worried about the contents. However, the travel spray itself was in a cardboard box inside the envelope. The decant is in a pretty standard 5ml glass vial inside a travel sprayer. It had a stock printed label with no indication as to batch number of the original fragrance. The standard shipping was through USPS Ground Advantage which now insures up to $100.
So far, my overall experience with MicroPerfumes is bottom tier. I received emails when I made the order, when the order was shipped, when the order was delivered and a follow up survey. Shipping time was amazing as this arrived earlier than everybody and came the furthest distance. Shipping and decant packaging was also on par with most everyone else. The biggest issues for MicroPerfumes are the lack of selection, the exorbitant prices and a bare bones shopping experience. Joe Average take: MicroPerfumes gets everything right except the most important of all, the actual products. While healthy marketing campaigns are almost critical in today's fast paced society, the lack of a big selection, lack of many size options and hefty price tags ultimately sinks them. SCORE 3/10
