Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche EDP (1/3)
This is considered the best from the AH line and even called the best lemon fragrance of all time by Omar from School of Scent, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Here’s my review.
It opens with a hyper realistic lemon and bergamot, followed swiftly by sandalwood. Soft, smooth, and slightly sweet. That top note lasted maybe five minutes, and then it shifted into woods, vanilla, and a noticeable amount of vetiver. Probably the most I’ve ever picked up in a fragrance apart from that one Valentino I can’t quite remember.
Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed. It feels overhyped. The opening is fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but the dry down reminds me of talcum powder. In fact, it’s very close to Cinthol’s lemon soap bar, which costs about 50p.
People also recommend this for the gym, but I’d disagree. It’s a bit too powdery for that, unless you’re someone who goes to the gym without actually breaking a sweat.
And the performance does not help either. Around two hours of projection before it turns into a skin scent. Longevity is maybe six hours, which is underwhelming at this price point.
Overall, I’m not super pleased and would give it a 6.5/10. Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, it doesn’t perform well. And yes, I’m probably not the right audience for it. I just can’t shake the talcum powder association. Maybe it will grow on me with time, but right now it’s not my style.
