This is my most important rule for deadlifting: No Yanking! So, feel the weight of the bar in your hands, and smoothly increase the amount of pressure you feel in your hands until the bar breaks contact with the ground. If you do this correctly, the bar will lift off the ground silently! That's the goal. Once the plates break contact with the ground, then you can aggressively accelerate the bar all you want. But that first inch off the ground is a show loading process.
