Thursday MONEYTestimony Share your testimony with a post or comment I needed to schedule a tune-up for my AC and heater. 🥵 I could not remember the last time I had done it, but it stayed on my mind. So I called the company that installed it and scheduled the appointment. Then came the filter. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Usually, I need to buy one before the technician arrives. I thought, "Oh goodness, I need to go buy that too." But the Holy Spirit reminded me. The last time I bought filters, I bought extra. I had put them away in a protected place. Somewhere I would remember to look when I needed them. Well, I did not remember. But He did. I opened that little hiding place and found two perfectly usable filters. One for this year. One for next year. I did not have to buy another filter today because last year, when it was today, I planned for tomorrow. That is why TodayPLANTomorrow means so much to me. Sometimes God’s provision for today is connected to the care you took yesterday. You prepared. You protected it. And when the time came, it was there. Your provision tomorrow may just be a result of your preparation today

MondayMONEY Devotion The other day, someone told my son how handsome he is. And he is. But it made me think about how quickly we assign attractive value based on what we can see. A person may have a limp, a stutter, or something visible in their body. They may not fit the height, weight, complexion, style, or facial features the world has decided are attractive. Before we have heard one word from them, we may decide they are not someone we want to know, listen to, or be associated with. That is a dangerous place to stop. Some of the most beautiful people I know would not fit the world's checklist of beauty. But their character is solid. They are loyal. They are dependable. They tell the truth. They are loving, patient, and full of grace. You would miss all of that if you stopped at the door of appearance. Money works the same way. You can see someone's house, car, job title, clothes, vacation pictures, or the way they carry themselves, and decide they must be doing well. But you do not know the whole story. You do not know whether the house is rented. You do not know whether the mortgage is behind. You do not know whether the car is leased. You do not know what it cost them to keep up the appearance. You do not know whether more hours at work are draining the time and attention their marriage or children need. The outside does not always tell you what is happening on the inside. Then there is the harder question. What have you painted onto your own financial picture? What have you put in place so you do not have to look too closely? Maybe it is the car in the driveway. Maybe it is the title on the business card. Maybe it is the clothes, the image, the smile, or the way you answer when someone asks how things are going. After a while, you can look at the paint so long that you start believing it yourself. But being honest is not about beating yourself up. It is about being able to repair what is really there. Years ago, when I worked in industrial safety, I taught construction workers how to inspect a safety helmet, their hard hat. One of the rules was not to paint it or cover it in stickers of their favorite team or band.

SABBATH RESTMONEYRESET I was walking the other day and passed a yard with an old solar panel propped against the fence. Small, worn, clearly done. Not connected to anything. Not powering anything. Just there. And I got to thinking. That panel used to work. At some point somebody needed it, used it, depended on it. Now it just sits, and the owner drives past it every day without seeing it anymore. That is what happens when something has been broken long enough. Your brain stops flagging it. It tells your eyes, "Nothing to see here," and you believe it. What's Sitting In Your Yard I want to ask you something today. What is sitting in your financial yard like that? That subscription you signed up for when you needed it, and have not opened in four months. That app you are still paying for out of habit, not use. That thing that once served a purpose and now just sits there, quietly costing you a little bit every month while you have gone numb to it. Sometimes we leave it because we are hoping it will start working again on its own. Sometimes we leave it because we genuinely do not have the time to deal with it, so we tell ourselves we will get to it later. Either way, the evidence just stays in the yard. Take Stock, Not Judgment So today, on this day of rest, I am not asking you to build anything or fix anything. I am asking you to look. Pull up your transactions for this month. Really look at what is there. Not to judge yourself, just to see it. And once you see it, I give you permission to be honest about it. It served its purpose. It is not serving you today. That is simply true. You are not your brain. God created you in His image, with a body and with a mind, but it is YOUR mind. You own it. It doesn't own you. And you get to renew that mind. You get to tell it what to do. One Step, Not a Total Rehab Then I want you to take one step. Just one. Cancel that thing. Delete it. Pick it up and throw it away. You are not saying you will never need it again. You are saying it does not get to quietly cost you today.
