What would you tell a room of teenage girls about money that you didn't know at their age? Tomorrow, I speak in front of thirty 8-14-year-old girls. I will teach them that money is neutral and a tool to build wealth. I feel they need to know they have free agency to make decisions about giving and saving for their present and the power to learn to make money for their future selves. This weekend I enjoyed a few celebrations, loved on people, and received love. At one celebration a dear friend asked me this question: "So how are you really doing?" I knew exactly what he meant. He wanted to understand how I was doing financially, running a business starting from scratch. He could have said "Are you making enough money to cover your monthly expenses?" but that would be too intrusive, too direct. Instead, he asked the safe question.
