Strava shows your workouts. It cannot show you why you feel wrecked and it's only available for premium subscribers. This pulls your full Garmin recovery picture into a folder your AI coach can actually read without having to spend money on a new subscription.
What you get:
- A clean daily wellness note your AI reads each morning: resting heart rate, HRV, sleep score, body battery, stress, and training readiness, plus every workout.
- Runs on autopilot. Cloud option through GitHub, or on your own computer, your choice.
- Read-only and private. It never writes anything back to your Garmin account.
- Built on the open-source python-garminconnect library, so it is free and transparent.
Why it matters: this is the recovery data that tells your coach when to push and when to back off. Strava cannot give you any of it.
Heads up: you run this in Claude Code (it installs and runs on your computer). New to Claude Code?Check out the 7-day Athlete AI Challenge and it will walk you through how to set-up Claude Code! And if you are already up and running with your Athlete OS with Strava and want to switch, just paste the full set-up guide in your Athlete OS' Claude Code chat and tell it to strip out Strava and plug Garmin in!
Setup takes about 10 minutes, with a one-time login.
Full step-by-step guide is in the classroom below. If you get it connected, drop your first daily wellness note in the comments.
