Comparing Homeopathic Remedies: Nux Vomica & Lycopodium 🌿
If you've been around me for long, you've probably heard me talk about these two remedies. While homeopathy always matches the remedy to the whole person, these are two I find myself recommending often when they fit the symptoms. 💚 Nux Vomica is one of my go-to remedies for the person who has pushed themselves too hard. Think overworked, overtired, stressed, mentally exhausted, or after too much rich food, coffee, or even travel. It can also be wonderful for muscle soreness, stiffness, digestive upset, and that "I've completely overdone it" feeling. My husband recently finished a 12-day backpacking trek, carrying a40- 50-pound pack (depending on how much food and water at any given time) for over 60 miles and sleeping on the ground each night. Throughout the trek, he took Arnica and Mag Phos every day to help with recovery. However, there were a couple of days when he really pushed himself and completely overdid it, so he added Nux Vomica. The next morning he noticed a remarkable difference—he wasn't nearly as sore as he expected and felt much more recovered, even after such physically demanding days. He kept saying how much the homeopathy helped him recover so he could keep going. 💚 Lycopodium has a special place in my heart because of how much it helped my daughter with her acid reflux and digestive issues. I have seen it help numerous people with digestive complaints from years of issues to an acute pain. It's also one of my favorite digestive remedies for people who struggle with bloating, gas, and feeling full after just a few bites. Many Lycopodium personalities appear confident on the outside but secretly struggle with self-confidence and often have symptoms that worsen in the late afternoon or early evening. ✨ Homeopathy is unique because we don't choose a remedy based on just one symptom. We look at the entire picture—physical symptoms, emotions, personality, what makes symptoms better or worse, and much more. That's what makes it such a personalized form of natural healing.

Jill's Book
Awhile ago I read Jill Turland's book. Today I came across some remedy combinations that I found interesting. As I was entering them into my homeopathy spreadsheet, I thought I'd share them here in case they're helpful for your own studies. 📚 From Jill Turland's teachings: 🦴 Joint & Bone Injury Mix - Symphytum - Ruta - Rhus toxicodendron - Hydrastis 💡 Interesting note: Jill mentions that Hydrastis has an affinity for bones, cartilage, and many types of tissue. She also associates it with the emotional aspect of feeling guilty that an injury was your own fault, which I found fascinating. 🚭 Quit Smoking Mix - Nux vomica - Tabacum Take a dose each time a craving for a cigarette occurs, and repeat with each new craving as needed. 🪱 Worm/Parasite Mix - Cina - Filix mas - Sulphur - I always enjoy seeing how different homeopaths approach remedy combinations. While these are Jill Turland's suggestions, I think they're valuable to study because they broaden our understanding of remedy relationships and traditional homeopathic thinking. What protocols or combos do you use in homeopathy?

Apple 🍎 Cider Vinegar
🍎 Who else drinks apple cider vinegar in the morning? 🙋‍♀️ Before I go to bed, I add a little apple cider vinegar (ACV) to a glass of water and drink as soon as I wake up. I also will drink in water about half an hour before a heavy meal. It’s a simple habit that has been around for centuries, and while it’s not a miracle cure, research suggests it may offer several health benefits. Some of the reasons I enjoy it: ✅ Supports healthy digestion ✅ Contains natural acids that may help nourish beneficial gut bacteria and support a healthy microbiome (especially when paired with a fiber-rich diet) ✅ May help reduce the blood sugar spike after meals by slowing stomach emptying and improving insulin sensitivity ✅ Can help you feel fuller longer, which may reduce cravings ✅ Supports healthy metabolism as part of an overall healthy lifestyle ✅ Provides acetic acid, a beneficial plant compound found in fermented foods 🍽️ What about GLP-1? One of the exciting areas of research is how foods like apple cider vinegar may support our body’s natural GLP-1 production. GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone your intestines release after you eat. It helps: ✨ Tell your pancreas to release insulin when needed ✨ Slow stomach emptying so you stay full longer ✨ Reduce appetite and cravings ✨ Help regulate healthy blood sugar levels Scientists believe the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar may stimulate the release of GLP-1 and other satiety hormones. It doesn’t work anywhere near the level of prescription GLP-1 medications, but it may gently support your body’s own natural processes, especially when combined with protein, fiber, regular movement, and quality sleep. 🥗 The biggest key to a healthy microbiome is feeding it what it loves: • Colorful vegetables • Fruits • Beans and legumes • Fermented foods • Plenty of fiber ⚠️ A few tips: • Always dilute it to protect your teeth • If you have ulcers, severe reflux, kidney disease, or take medications like insulin or diuretics, talk with your healthcare provider first.
