From "just a few" → trance-like binge. Here’s what’s happening
I got a great question about "trigger foods" and I see this all the time…
You tell yourself “just a few”
Next thing you know, you’re waking up from an unconscious binge.
For me? It's potato chips and wine. What about you?
These are usually the foods engineered to light up our brains' reward center with added sugar, fat, and salt. It’s not a willpower issue because it acts like a "gateway drug"
Take a moment to breathe in and then out ... right now.
If you’ve been beating yourself up over this… it’s probably making it worse, not better.
So what do you do?
Option 1:
Take a break from them. Get them out of your space for now. This can help you feel back in control. Just know that too much restriction can backfire on you later on.
Option 2:
Keep them in, and consider assistance from an expert with exposure and cognitive behavioral therapy . More intentional. Less automatic. This is how you break the loop of urge → action → regret.
Where are you right now? More “remove for now” or “ready to work on it”?
