Lead Scoring Automation That 3x'd Our Close Rate
Built a lead scoring automation that saved my sales team 15 hours per week and tripled our close rate. Here's the exact system: Every inbound lead gets scored 1-100 based on 12 criteria: Company size (from LinkedIn/Clearbit data), industry match (are they in our sweet spot?), budget signals (job postings, tech stack, funding), urgency indicators (language in their message), engagement history (have they visited pricing page? downloaded content?), title/role of the person reaching out, source (referral vs cold vs content), time since first touch, email domain (corporate vs gmail), geographic fit, previous interactions with our brand, and tech stack compatibility. Leads scoring 80+ get routed directly to calendar booking. 50-79 go to a nurture sequence. Under 50 get a polite "not a fit" response. Results: - Close rate: 8% โ†’ 23% - Sales time on unqualified leads: Down 70% - Average deal size: Up 40% (better qualified = bigger budgets) Who's still manually qualifying leads? There's a better way.
I showed clear ROI. On the way to close.
An automation agency was stuck at $5K/mo. I showed them a clean path to an extra $20K/month in pipeline. They tried everything โ€” ads, cold calling, more volume, more templates. Pipeline didnโ€™t move an inch. They were blasting 200+ emails/week. Generic. Forgettable. Messages that couldโ€™ve gone to anyone. Result? 0.9% reply rate. Maybe 1 SQL/month on a โ€œgoodโ€ month. And they wondered why outbound โ€œdoesnโ€™t work anymore.โ€ So I rebuilt the entire thing from scratch (I was using for myself). I built a Python-based outbound engine that: Pulls the prospectโ€™s latest posts (real-time intent) Extracts the pain theyโ€™re literally talking about online Crafts ROI-driven pitches (โ€œCut CAC 25%โ€ฆ improve LTV:CAC to 3xโ€ฆโ€) Sends personalized outreach at scale without slowing down Hereโ€™s what changed: Before โ†’ 200 emails/week 1% reply 1 SQL After โ†’ 150 emails/week 6% reply 8 SQLs Same effort. 6ร— more pipeline. Letโ€™s do the math: 8 SQLs ร— $2,500 ACV = $20,000 added pipeline Close rate didnโ€™t change โ†’ more revenue, automatically. Why the jump? Because we fixed the only 3 levers that actually matter: Target. Copy. Offer. Everything else is noise. Hereโ€™s the real principle: Relevance scales replies. Generic outreach โ†’ 1% Signal-targeted outreach โ†’ 8% This is literally the difference between: Empty calendar vs Consistent weekly calls Most agencies canโ€™t break their revenue plateau because: Their ICP is โ€œanyone who might need usโ€ Their message fits 1,000 companies Prospects delete it in 3 seconds Your real competition isnโ€™t other agencies. Itโ€™s the delete key. If your agency is stuck: Itโ€™s not your service. Itโ€™s not your pricing. Itโ€™s not the market. Itโ€™s your outbound strategy. Fix outbound โ†’ everything compounds. (P.S. Currently talking to them to fix their offers. Wish me luck)
