National Poetry Month – Day 25
Theme: Anyone Can Catch These Bullets
Some shots are intentional. Some aren’t. Maybe you were the target, maybe not. Either way, the impact lands the same. Words & actions… once released, sometimes we can’t control where it will land. Today, we explore what it means to be hit on purpose and what it means to be caught in something that was never meant for you.
Prompt 1 – Stray Shots
Write a poem about harm that wasn’t aimed at you, but still hit. What does it feel like to take damage that had nothing to do with you?
(Angle: unintended impact)
Prompt 2 – Dead Aim
Write a poem about being the intended target. When something is directed at you on purpose…words, actions, or harm. What made you the focus?
(Angle: intentional harm)
Prompt 3 – Pulling the Trigger
Write a poem about being the one who caused the harm. Whether intentional or not, what did you release and who did it reach?
(Angle: accountability / impact)
