National Poetry Month – Day 14
Theme: Paradox
Some truths sound like contradictions. Opposites can exist in the same space, and what doesn’t make sense on paper can still be real in life. Strength can look like softness. Distance can exist inside love. Today we explore the tension between what seems impossible and what we know to be true.
Prompt 1 – Opposites Under One Roof
Write a poem about opposing forces that exist in the same space. This could be emotions, personalities, beliefs, or different parts of yourself learning to coexist.
Prompt 2 – Winning Didn’t Feel Like Winning
Write a poem about a moment where you got what you wanted, achieved something, or reached a goal but it didn’t feel the way you expected. Explore the disconnect between success and fulfillment. Use feeling words.
Prompt 3 – Made of Mixed Signals
Write a poem about contradiction through behavior or communication. When words don’t match actions, or clarity gets lost in inconsistency.
