Creative at-home workout solutions?
Hey, all. A chilly greeting from Alaska. It is gusting 65 in my neighborhood today, and temps have dropped to well-below freezing. I won't be driving to the gym, so my plan is to get in some cardio by running up and down our staircase plus planks and some knee-strengthening exercises. Do you (or anyone in the group) have go-to workouts for extreme weather days you'd be willing to share? I find that winter weather here makes for very inconsistent workout routines for me.
Gift Exchange
Our Trail running club is having their Christmas party tonight. Iโ€™ve got some old running packs for the gift exchange! Hope I have some takers๐ŸŽ

I would! You have a pretty fun, active running group. Also, curious to find out what you bring home๐Ÿ˜€

Okay, you guilted me into it! My win is that I am back to working out post-illness. I don't get sick very often, and I'm always surprised at how much energy it zaps.

It's a glaze of ice here, so I did an indoor cross-train workout - plank challenge and eliptical. I'm using this as my off-season framework https://relentlessforwardcommotion.com/how-to-maintain-running-fitness-when-you-arent-training-for-a-race/ There are two sample week schedules, but I'm off-schedule this week. I did Sunday today, and I'll do hills tomorrow. I skipped the long run this week due to sickness. I did a mile, and then just needed to stop.

"But imagine not having to worry about losing your running lifestyle, being fit and health(y), able to have freedom, independence, and vitality as you get older. So you can keep up with the grandkids, take adventures, not be a burden or dependent on your loved ones." I've started reading, and this line resonates with me right away. Those are the reasons! Aside from heart attack, I can relate to every scenario you've painted. I'm on board and looking forward to getting into it more.
Excited to meet you!
Hey, I'm from Alaska. Running gives me something to work toward and keeps my mental/physical health in check! Here's my running pic: springtime in my neighborhood.
Excited to meet you!

Hahaha! They will be few and far between. Once the road gets icy and it drops below 20, I move into the gym. But maybe the group will inspire me to get tough.
