@B. Kuereine Gray 100%!
Let's spread some humor!
We made it to Friday! There is never a boring day in the ABA world. What's the craziest thing you have said to your clients this week? I'll start... Please don't lick your friend, you don't know if they showered today 🤣

"Next time, tissue first then blow"
Meaningful Monday!
I am always curious on who people look up to as their go to clinicians in their practice space. I do not mean the people who are great speakers, awesome at publishing, or "key figures" of the field. I mean the people that you look up to as inspiration for their clinical approach and skills. I have a lot! But today I reflect on one of my earliest mentors and clinicians I was lucky enough to work with as an undergraduate. Melissa Nosik: She taught me how to show up to sessions as your authentic self, how to never hold your ego over the client's needs, and how to genuinely follow a learner's progress to wherever it goes! I haven't worked with her clinically in almost 11 years now- but often I think about what she would do when I run into a challenge- I still find myself learning from her even in her absence so many years later. Please celebrate some of your favorite clinicians, either that you are happy you worked with once upon a time or that you get to work with now! What did you learn from them, are you still learning from them?

Chris Deaver taught a class in my master's program called ABA Across Populations. This course included an amazing exposure to research, so not only did she highlight behavior analysis applied well beyond autism, she taught us all how to search for articles, read the articles, how to interpret results, and discuss them. It was a ton of work with multiple research articles assigned every week, once weekly live discussions, and multiple individual presentations. But I am a better educated analyst for it!
Work environments at clinics
As a BCBA, what's the biggest green flag 🟩 or red flag 🚩 a clinic can have?

@Mark Malady so is being a newer company a red flag? I check one of your green flag boxes: clinician owned/operated, but I hired my BCBAs as experienced BCBAs so none of them were my RBTs prior. I was the only BCBA for 2 years of our 3 year history. The BCBAs who have come on board since the opening of our center 1 year ago are all second hires for me. They all worked under me at other companies so we have a history, and I know who I hired. And I hired them because of that! We all have 5+ years experience as BCBAs, but the average length of employment is under 2 years because we're a young company. 🙃
Questions for BCBAs
For those of you who supervise fieldwork, what types of unrestricted activities do you assign? Do you allow your trainees to do assessments and programming? Thank you.

I have one supervisee who is my lead RBT. She assists with assessments, programming, staff training, and leads special projects like revamping our social skills groups. She attends family guidance sessions whenever possible with her clients. She's going to be an amazing BCBA!
