Broker Transparency
Whats your take on the new enforcement of the Transparency rule That a Freight Broker will have to provide their carriers documentation showing the rate the Shipper paid the Broker? Anybody have something to say about this? LOL

@Lisa Taylor It's tough because mostly all of us feel we should get more money for the things we do so I understand why a carrier would feel that way. Ultimately, we never can All be satisfied 🤷‍♂️

@Nancy Hallbauer Going on strike would help carriers if they actually could unite. Realistically, not enough carriers will do this to make it effective. The port strikes were effective because of the union and it being an organized event that the members participated in. But with a "handshake" agreed upon strike by a small amount of carriers, shippers and brokers wouldn't feel the same full affects like the widescale shutdown on ports. I agree, we do need to learn to coexist. We are all truly better with eachother, as much as many on both sides hate to admit it.
Drayage
Let's talk container shipments. Recently I started using chatgpt to quickly find companies in specific locations and industries. While it's certainly not robust and ideal like a ZoomInfo, I can say it's been a pleasant surprise to at least begin research. Beware, chatgpt does make errors. What are your favorite ways to prospect?

@Lisa Taylor LinkedIn is great when a company has a profile or an employee there does, even if it's not someone in charge of freight.

@Aliu Mateen I have utilized sales navigator before but I haven't recently. Typically I send connect requests and inform the person why I'm wanting to connect, other times I'll just say that I "Hope to connect."
Cryptocurrency in Freight Shipping
Has anyone in our group worked in a shipping environment where a cryptocurrency was utilized to pay for the shipping of their freight? I know in eCommerce there are a number of sites where you can purchase and pay for the shipping in Crypto. Overstock, Shopify, NewEgg and Rakuten all accept crypto payments for shipping services. I know in Maritime freight the "ccc" container crypto coin was launched on ethereum ledger all the way back in 2018 but never made it to full adoption. But currently in Freight Trucking Transportation is anyone operating in this space? Any carrier planning on accepting Bitcoin or Crypto for payment or having their freight moved on a Blockchain ledger? Anyone have any insight into these developments it would be great to discuss where this is headed in terms of freight settlements in the future.

Hmm, seems like this would be a ways away from the freight industry but hey, it only takes 1 company to do it.
Customs Broker?
What are your thoughts on Customs Brokers? It seems that most I have seen work in a forwarding company. Have you seen many solo Custom Brokers or small companies that primarily offer Customs services? How does this compare to you to Freight Brokering? Ofcourse they are two very different things but I would love to hear your thoughts.

@Sydnie Theisen I was curious as to know how common it was for a LCB to have their own business. It seems that most LCBs work for a freight forwarder. My reason for asking is because I considered obtaining the license. However, I wasn't sure if it something very beneficial to add to our brokerage.
LTL
Recently I've noticed a lot of LTL buzz. Personally I've never broken into this world. Sites such as WWEX, Unishippers, GLT, and Uship have always been suggested as a 3PL can get set up and have direct access to carriers on each platform. After having been setup, I have continually found that the rates I was given quite frankly cannot compete with what shippers are currently getting. Understable, you can't win them all, but I mean some rates don't even compare being 100s and even 1000+ difference. How have you guys been able to compete in the LTL world?
