Things you don't think about
I'm GMing for a group of new players. In session zero it was agreed that with everyone being new there would be no PVP. We have been playing for almost 2 years now. Last session one player started accusing another player of hoarding an artifact that they are looking for. The accused player has a cursed bag of gold that they are very covetous of. This caused some awkward silence and it took me a minute to figure out what was going on. The other players thought this was PVP. Which I can see how that could be construed. I explained that this was just role playing and role playing between characters is great. It had never occurred to me where the line between role playing and PVP was. Next session will be going over what is PVP and isn't PVP. What are some things you've never thought to explain because you've been playing for so long?

Well, why don’t you let them fight and when one goes down, you just say it was a sparring match and undo the damage taken? Rivalry in the beginning can lead to even deeper bonds throughout the campaign. And when a fight breaks out between PCs, it could have the educational effect that they shalll not embezzle from each other.
New Forgotten Realms content
Anyone get the digital versions of the new Forgotten Realms books on dndbeyond? I’m checking them out now, and excited to debut my drow knowledge domain cleric in a oneshot on Monday…

@Sage Crane there’s nothing better on a Sunday morning than watching your content with a good coffee and cheese sandwich. Although I disagree on your verdict on the Bladesinger. It is not shoehorned into one playstyle, it can go melee or be a blaster not using weapons at all.
You’re being attacked: Roll for defense!
Who doesn’t know this situation: as soon as the fighter has made their attacks and rolled for damage, they pull out their phone and start scrolling through the latest posts on social media. Well, outright banning phones at the table isn’t always an option, since many players use them for character sheets and/or rulebooks. So, what about this simple and exciting house rule: Roll for AC! Your AC isn’t a fixed value anymore , it’s AC − 10 + 1D20. So, a PC with an AC of 16 now has 6 + 1d20 instead and they have to roll it, every round when they get attacked. This makes combat more exciting and feels like you’re actually fighting, fending off enemy attacks. Especially in 1-on-1 combat, it really feels like dueling, and more "realistic". It can also be extended to Spell Save DCs (DC − 10 + 1D20). Moreover, it gives you some wiggle room to add extra effects when rolling a natural 1 or 20 (like dropping your weapon, granting advantage/disadvantage on the next attack, etc.). But first and foremost: This rule helps keep players off their phones! So, what’s y’all’s opinion? Would you try it? Have you tried it already? Let me hear your experiences! Additionally, disarming should be improved. So, a creature provokes an Attack of Opportunity when it picks up a weapon or Arcane Focus. Otherwise, since picking up an item is a free action, disarming is mostly useless. You could also grant a reaction to kick away a dropped item when you're within 5 feet of it.

Here's my encounter.
Blood Magic
This is for me, a Severly underrated/underused school of magic and would Love to see this School of Magic become Real in DND. I mean think about it, we have the Normal 8 Schools and also Chronomancy(14). So why not Blood Magic as Canon

Check out "Crimson Sorcery" in the Crooked Moon expansion. If you joined the Skool D&D Group campaign on DDB, you should have access to it. It's mechanically simple and dripping with flavor. You know some healing spells and get 1d8 (the "Blood Well") extra damage or healing, that refills every time you deal 10+ necrotic damage. And later you can shapechange into a pool of blood! I will play one, and the spell attacks will be flavored as a syringe that actually drains the enemy's blood. Also, the spell "Blood Sacrifice" is perfect for this: it's like Hex without concentration, but you have to sacrifice your own health when you cast it.

Hi Sage! Big fan of your channel—love your builds. I even ran your Circus one-shot. I’d be stoked to roll some dice together!
