Gentle Check-In 🤎
I wanted to circle back to our last post. Only one person responded, and before I assume anything, I just want to open the space again. If you’ve been quiet, it’s okay. Sometimes silence means you’re focused. Sometimes it means you’re behind. Sometimes life is just… life. No judgment here. But I do want to make sure no one is quietly drifting when what you may really need is support. If having a dedicated space to record, photograph, or build would help you move forward, I truly need to know. I’m willing to create it, I just don’t want to assume. And if you’re feeling behind or unsure where to pick back up, say that too. We can recalibrate. That’s what community is for. We're also adding a couple of co-working sessions next week for those who need to catch up. We’ll do it together. I’m planning an evening that may work better for most schedules. If that would help you, drop that below too so we can finalize some times. Our March 31 goal is still within reach. Slow and steady still counts. Small steps still matter. Just drop a quick comment: • “I’m building.” • “I need space.” • “I need co-working.” • “I need help catching up.” • Or even just a 🤍 so I know you’re here. Let’s stay connected as we move into build weeks. You don’t have to do this quietly.💖

I need help catching up and I need co-working
75 Consistency Challenge Check-In 👀 (Day 34)
I need to be honest. I’ve restarted this challenge more times than I’d like to admit 🫣 Between unexpected school closures, travel, preparing to move in a month, creating curriculum for this community and working behind the scenes to start building my course… every few days I’ve had to start over. Consistency is something I crave. But lately? It hasn’t felt easy. Then I sensed a simple correction from the Holy Spirit: Stick to the schedule! Don’t let one task hijack the whole day. If something is taking too long, pause it and move on to what was assigned to that time block. Because what keeps derailing me isn’t lack of desire. It’s letting one thing consume space that belonged to something else. So I tried it. And guess what? I’ve been meaning to post this message since last week… and it finally got done.😆 Small obedience. Small structure. Small wins. If you’ve had to restart… you’re not alone. But maybe the lesson isn’t “try harder.” Maybe it’s “protect the structure.” Who else has been struggling with consistency lately? What’s been pulling you off track?

If I’m being honest, I haven’t been able to start. I seen spending 30 minutes of my business daily and got discouraged. I am always looking at my daily schedule and becoming overwhelmed, I plan and then feels like nothing I planned gets done.

@Sherrika Newsome thank you so much for this. I started to read it when first post it but it was so long I had to take a break. I just look at my paper this morning and I have only finished week 1. I printed out week 2 but have not started them yet. I am going to think smaller to try to tackle things. I really want to try the activity to ask God because I have 3 to do list just for my professional life which doesn’t even include my personal life or my son’s or husband’s so to leave it at God’s feet and allow Him to take control sounds amazing. An in person event sounds amazing. Those maybe easier for me to schedule and attend to work on things.
Anchoring Habits: What I Learned About Myself This Week
How are y’all really doing? I want to know. Last week, snow prep alone threw off my schedule mid-week. I found out about the storm through a random conversation since I’ve seriously limited my social media and news intake. I immediately went into full mama bear mode, like preparing for hibernation. Just when I thought the storm had passed, the real aftermath hit. Three kids home from school at the same time. It reminded me of last summer when we waited too long to register for camp and ended up with all three kids home the entire summer. If you know, you know. This week was not planned, but something good came out of it. I was so exhausted most nights that I went to bed before midnight, something I had been struggling with. That made it possible to wake up at my usual 4:30 a.m. to spend time with the Lord. It also made me realize how often late nights had turned my mornings into rushed time with God instead of the intentional space I wanted. After my quiet time, I had an hour blocked off for exercise. I decided not to repeat my old mistake of jumping straight into an intense workout after years of inconsistency and then walking like a penguin for a week. Instead, I searched for low-impact workouts and committed to just 25 minutes. Twenty-five very sweaty, almost-quit-but-didn’t minutes. I also ate better since I had time to prepare breakfast and broke my fast feeling more energized. I squeezed in some light cleaning and organizing, and overall, I just felt better. What surprised me most was realizing that all of this started with the one thing I’ve been consistent with for the past two years: my morning time with God. When I first started, it was simple. I’d read the scripture of the day. Over time, I slowly added more. A song. A short devotion. Journaling. Presenting my to-do list to the Lord. It wasn’t overwhelming because it was gradual. That one habit became the anchor. This week, I did the same thing again. I anchored a short workout to my time with God. Not an hour. Just 25 minutes. And for now, that works. I can build from there.

Hello. I love this example. Yes I have heard of anchoring habits when I read Atomic habit. I would like to anchor my morning devotions with my first morning phone pick up. Once that is mastered, I want to anchor a 15 minute morning stretch exercise.

Week 1 was affirming with how I am pivoting this year, as a family our focus for this year is to be rooted in reality: Laying the Groundwork so learning my capacity is helpful for building my business and what God is doing in my household. My top 3 spiritual gifts are Administration, Exhortation, and Hospitality. Knowledge, Mercy, and Pastor/Shepherd were also my top gifts with scores at 9. This was not a surprise because it describes me to the T. I have to have organization to focus and I love to throw a party or event. My DISC blend is IS with D being one point lower. This also was not a surprise because of my occupation as a social worker and mental health therapist. I love people so much and I often serve to my detriment. What was most beneficial to me was to see my capacity which is low in this season and to not judge myself about it. Also knowing that I can build based off of my reality and not what other influencers are suggesting takes off a lot of pressure. I am excited to get into alignment and see how The Lord moves.
📚 Week 0: Grounded 📚
Happy New Year, Ladies! 💖 I took January 1 to rest, and I hope you did too. Before we jump into building systems or strategy, we’re starting this year on purpose. I'm officially labeling this week, Week 0. Because it's all about grounding. Not producing. Not catching up. Not proving anything. This week, I want you to choose one simple way you’ll spend time in God’s Word: - a Bible-in-a-year plan - a short devotional - one book of the Bible each month (Proverbs is a great place to start) There is no “right” choice. The goal is not perfection. The goal is rhythm. Some of you are coming off the holidays. Some of you are getting kids back to school. Some of you are already feeling the pressure to “get it right.” This week is your permission to breathe and reconnect with God before we build. As you engage this week, you’ll see one of our first gifts unlocked: a daily Purpose Planner page to support your time with God. You can print it or copy it into a notebook. This is just a preview of a resource we’re developing more fully this year. For now, your only assignment is this: 👉🏾 Comment below with how you plan to spend time in the Word this week or this year. That’s it. No pressure. No falling behind. We officially begin Week 1 next week. Until then, get grounded and let God meet you where you are. We're really glad you’re here.

Last week I was off of everything related to work and business so I am just getting back into my account. I spent time ending My Bible in a year plan and started a new plan focused on emotions.
