One Question
What's one question you have about running that I can answer this week?

I unfortunately am in the middle of a cold type sickness 3 1/2 weeks before my 1st marathon. Original goal was 3:30 but due to other issues settled on 3:40. Do I just take the week off and adjust to a 4 hour marathon or 3:45?

I’d love to know 1) What are your key wins for this week? 2) What are you most proud of? 3) What obstacles/challenges did you overcome? Go 💙

I had my 10k tune up before my marathon in 3 weeks. Finished in 44:05 and had strong mechanics based on my garmin watch data even with a couple little nagging injuries.
Move It Monday 💙
I would love to know 1) What are your goals for this week? 2) What obstacles do you need to overcome to achieve these goals? 3) What support do you need to make this week a success? Go 💙

Goal this week is to actually get this entire week of schedule training down. Dealing with a calf issue that has been keeping me from running as much as I would like. I did include some elliptical to help offset it.

So, I guess that it's then It's Sunday by the way Now, unless you are one of the people that has to just, well, work over Christmas It's that confusing time of year now Not for me, I started marathon training on the 22nd If you running Brighton or Manchester here in the UK? You "should" be starting this week or next Now, I have been working very hard with my coaching community on the mindset of December into January marathon training Because let's be honest here Most people unfortunately down tools until January on all fitness stuff And then we get the dreaded January stuff Listen, no judgement here, it's nobodies fault But as someone that has witnessed "January" first hand since 2009 It's painful for a lot of people Going from literal feast to percieved famine is not great The language people use as well "Back on it" "Being good" "New me" This is VERY disempowering (again, it's not their fault) A better way? Understanding the WHOLE journey including December You have ups and downs You have moments of doubt and moments of courage It's same with training for races It's a process There is no absolutes or binary thinking But you only get this when you understand how to train for things Which, well, I do I am also teaching an amazing group of people how to do it as well So, if you have a big race coming up? Drop me a reply here if you want to chat about getting some structured help I wish you a happy and prosperous 2026 Until next time. John

I did my local 4 mile turkey trot, goal was 7 flat 28 minutes. I finished 28:14 with 7:03 pace. I had serious imposter syndrome after a relatively poor performance during my week of training but I was able to accomplish my goal and left good doing it.
