Thursday question
I recently heard this in a podcast and it really stuck with me: “Being a coach is easy. Being a good coach is hard.” Looking back… 👉 What part of coaching did you think would be easier? 👉 Or what still surprises you today — something you didn’t expect at all

Being a good coach is one of the most difficult roles in sports because, at the end of the day, the expectation is that everything depends on you and that you alone are responsible for any loss. What surprises me is how often people blame only the coach, as if changing that one person could instantly fix all the problems within the team. In reality, the outcome depends on so many factors: players, teamwork, preparation, and sometimes even luck; yet the coach is the one who bears the weight of everyone’s expectations.

@Damir Djukic Luckily, I haven’t experienced that personally, but I’ve seen that pattern, even in my own country. Fans and the public often allow themselves to judge things that aren’t really theirs to judge. I think the same thing is happening now in France. When results don’t meet expectations, it’s easier to point at the coach than to look at the bigger picture. But changing one person rarely fixes deeper structural or team-related issues.
