What we need in a converting VSL?
Hi! I just finished a new VSL for my Skool community, and I’m looking for honest feedback. From your experience as community owners, what do you think a converting VSL really needs? Where do you usually see VSLs fail, especially with the hook and the promise? My biggest challenge is combining a strong hook with clear benefits while keeping the video engaging and not overexplained. I’d love to hear what works and what you’d change. Thanks in advance for any feedback I can't see this project objectively 🙏🏻
2 wins - Sales + Membership Growth
😀First win - I've made 2 sales of my full course in the space of 2 weeks. This is definitely because of Skool. I have an older demographic and I think having a community has helped to build trust. 😀Second win - My membership is growing nicely for my free group, mainly down to Facebook ads. I'm getting sign ups for just under £2.50 which is a good sign my offer is resonating (Sales >> Complete Registration). Let's see if this continues though.... So what do I need to work on? 1) Engagement Although I'm getting more members (up to 80 now), not many are engaging at all. There's only a small handful who are commenting. I think I have a lot of 'lurkers' but also as I have an older demographic, many aren't that tech savvy and they just don't understand Skool or how it works. I think some don't know how to post, let alone attach a file to a post! I did am online coffee chat yesterday and only 2 showed up. So my plan is to create a really detailed onboarding video, which I will link to in my Auto DM's when people sign up. I will show people how to use Skool on a computer and phone. Hopefully this will help. 2) Freemium or Free Trial? Of course part of the reason I'm getting a lack of engagement could be lead quality (even though I'm using the 'Sales' objective in Facebook ads.) I'm starting to wonder whether to go for a free trial instead of a free group once I reach around 100 members. Has anyone got any experience of this, particularly if you are in a hobby niche like me?

Evelyn suggested to run a free trial for me at 200 members instead of the freemium, now you have members so might be similar for you too 🙂
