🎨 Introducing: The SALT Shaker Series
Coaching is art. And like any good artist, you notice things others overlook.Small things.Simple things.Like... a salt shaker. You see, salt doesn’t need to explain itself. It’s not flashy. It’s not trending. But its utility is unmatched — just like the tools we use as coaches:→ Points of performance→ Faults and fixes→ Principles that hold the line when others want shortcuts This new “Salt Shaker” art series is a reflection of those unshakable standards. It’s about the subtle, unspoken decisions that great coaches make. Like keeping the shaker in the center of the table — not because it’s cool, but because it’s right. And when you’re an ACADEMY coach, you don’t move the salt shaker just because someone thinks it looks better over there. Nope. You know what happens when it moves —and you know what happens when it stays put. This is for those who know. Who feel. Who coach like it matters. Because it does. Hope this series hits home and you get a nugget or two out of each one. Feedback always welcome 🖤Let’s make coaching art again. #SaltShakerSeries #CoachingIsArt #TheACADEMYCoach #HoldTheStandard

This is a great, simple to follow guide. I ran through a bunch of data once on protein sources to try to identify the best in terms of overall macros (besides protein powder) and Seitan comes in 1st place by far for the portion size. Followed by Tofu (higher fat, lowish carbs) and Tempeh (higher fat and medium carbs), but both are still relatively balanced. This is a super easy guide to refer to as a foundation for meal planning.
I SEE YOUUUU!!!
Visual cueing is a potent tool for visual learners and can evolve into a verbal cue over time. Simply pointing to a body part and saying, "You look like this," followed by, "I want you to look like this," is one of the most impactful ways to guide an athlete toward better movement. In Phase 4, we dive into the art of delivering effective visual cues.

This goes through my head a lot as an athlete. I'm always wondering what my movements look like. Being cued visually on able what I'm doing incorrectly and what slight changes need to be made (if I don't already know... heels down🙄🙄) is super helpful.

One of the most powerful ways to grow as a coach isn’t just reading theory or memorizing progressions — it’s learning from each other’s experiences. Inside The Academy, every conversation, every question, and every story shared makes us all better. 👉 This week’s challenge: What’s one recent “aha moment” you’ve had in coaching? - Maybe it was a cue that finally landed. - Maybe it was how you handled a tough class. - Maybe it was something you realized about yourself as a leader. Drop it in the comments 👇 — because your lesson learned could be the breakthrough another coach here needs.

No coaching under my belt just yet, but I'm curious; - Is this role as (or the traits of) a coach something you'd always seen in yourself before CrossFit, or did it come more so as you became more passionate about CF? - What does a tough class look like and how do you handle it?
WELCOME NEW COACHES!
