@Teri Chinn here is the pic of the kiwi, it is a vine and it requires a male and a female vine to have fruits. We are still learning how to best pruning them...

@Julie Vigil you are welcome! It's really cool seeing them hanging from the vine :)

Congratulations!!!
Garden fountain
@Julie Vigil posted about putting water out for the pollinators and it reminded me of the fountain I never got up and running for my wife. Still need to hide the wires and put a cover on the reservoir, but it's running.

@Dennis Wichter right now the house runs on the spring water, there is a deposit right out of the spring, and from there a pipe runs to the house, so everything runs on that spring water. We need to clean up the deposit, the pipe, and we are also hooking up city water, to have flexibility.

@Dennis Wichter from what I see you are in Las Vegas, and I am in Galicia. We are right on the Atlantic/Cantabric northern sea coastline with an oceanic climate and we get more than 70 inches per year of rain, that's why we have in this area perpetually green landscapes.
Chop & Drop time!
I seeded a cover crop last fall and have started the chop & drop phase. I'm getting my son to do most of it with the line trimmer since I don't have the energy to do it all. The picture is one of the beds. The cover crop did really well, so I'll have lots of great stuff in the bed once it's all chopped. I'll be covering it with compost then mulch. And, yes, I plan on trimming the prickly pear cactus. I'm hoping to stay ahead of the new pads as they try to grow so that it won't get huge again too quickly. That thing is 6 years old and started from 5 single pads that my husband and daughter collected from a yard that was slated to become part of a new interstate loop around Raleigh. It just goes to show you that not all cacti shrivel up and die with lots of rain!

Once you get your soil going you'll be amazed at what you can grow. Today we visited a local farm where they do syntropic farming, they mimic natural forest succession and they produce their own food while restoring soil, biodiversity, and water cycles. It's amazing how great the system works, they do not need to water and they are able to feed themselves and have produce to sell too. They do not use compost or fertilizers or pesticides. The system works together beautifully!

I help people finally move the goal they've been putting off for way too long, so they don't get to the end wondering why they never tried.
