Today's To-Do list
So, my daily activities are probably not normal. I'm curious what other people do who don't work, work at home or are retired, so share your list! Here's what is on my list for today (will probably stretch for the week): - feed horses/chickens, see how far towards a mile I can go - check on salamander eggs - strain the turkey tail tincture and set the water decoction on the marc going - clean the bathrooms, fold clothes, sweep mud room - work on my article for NANPS about Cunila oreganoides (American dittany) - work on accompanying drawings for the article - make blog post (I'll probably use this post here to make the blog post) - make oil paint from bone and soot pigments (I need them for my owl painting, and want to see side-by-side comparison of the two) - get my shed painting out and covered to bring with when we go to town tomorrow - I need to drop it off to be scanned - withdraw shed painting from one exhibition bc I forgot I had entered it into another 😶 - work on sign layout using new graphic I used ChatGPT to design for my broker - put together a video of clips to promote this skool class on YouTube and entice new members - start getting my supplies and materials organized for April live paint-making class, order anything missing

@Madison Woods I know we have Turkey Tail on the property somewhere. What time of year do you harvest it?

@Allyssa Riley congratulations on new learning! That’s so important to do always!!
Made it back
After several days of no walking or jogging other than my usual around the house to feed critters and such, I made it back out there this morning. My camera quit recording twice so the video is shorter than it would be otherwise.

What a lovely walk. You made it! 😊
Blood Moon
Did any of you watch the eclipse this morning? I did, but my phone can't take good pics of the moon. It was interesting to watch, though.

@Madison Woods I don’t know anything about those terms…now I will study them. Thank you!!
Looking forward to spring
I tend to stay indoors a lot when it's cold outside, so I'm really looking forward to spring. Oddly enough, dead skunks on the roadsides is the first sign of spring approaching - they're everywhere! Well, that's because it's mating season for skunks and they're all out at night crossing roads in search of a mate. I blogged about the early signs I notice (https://www.wildozark.com/subtle-signs-of-spring/). What are some subtle signs you're seeing in your neck of the woods?

I saw a very high, small team of geese (heard them first) heading north 2 days ago. No wedge, just a straight line as far as I would see. Then yesterday another low flying group headed south. Couldn’t possibly be the same ones but seemed relevant given the early warmth of winter.

The next video will be 45+ min if I don't break it into parts. Would you prefer the single video, or two shorter ones? In this one I'm taking you to a few different places around our property to look for rocks and show you how I test them, with and without a creek nearby.
