Structure during holidays
Currently on a road trip with Alpha and canโ€™t believe how well behaved he has been! He wasnโ€™t a fan of his crate in this new environment (refusing to get in after a while), but we went back to basics with shorter distance and duration, plus some high value treats. While he still prefers to be around me, he is back to following โ€œplaceโ€ command and having dedicated downtime with less stress in the crate. Heโ€™s also had lots of interactions with other dogs - learning to be much more polite with his introductions and disengaging quicker when other dogs arenโ€™t interested. Iโ€™m feeling so empowered and in tune with Alpha thanks to everything we have learned from the Walkyโ€™s team!

Maverick
Maverick had his second day at the Training Academy I picked Maverick up this afternoon. He seemed to be very tired but happy to see me. I brought him another toy from the Training Academy and talked about how we can improve Maverick as it gets older with the two lovely ladies. We went home and Maverick was full of life as he normally is. We played with his new toy for about half an hour with his mate Barney we went inside so I could get them their dinner unfortunately I left the front door open. A lady was walking her two dogs and Maverick had noticed them walking past ran out barking at them with aggression. I went outside called Maverick. He did not come the first time the second time I called him he came to me. I was quite upset with the aggression Maverick had with the two dogs took him inside put on his lead got his safe mat and made him sit there. Yes it took me six times but he stayed there for a good hour and a half without moving was proud of Maverick then I am praying and hoping that Maverick will not be an aggressive dog. Not quite sure what to do about that. If you have any ideas for me to stop him from being like that, I am quite willing to listen I understand that Maverick is still a pup. Only five months old. I hope he can grow out of this cheers Paul.

@Lex Stephens thats a great idea! and what body language can indicate aggression or build up to an explosion

@Paul Blanch you get a complimentary 1:1 with Nath and Lex so feel free to send me a message on here with your availability, we can bring dogs and walk past to see what happens and show you how to deal with the situation in real time :)
Small win
After the live video about the discomfort threshold I fine tuned my โ€œahโ€ and my โ€œyesโ€. Now when Snoop Dog bolts up and makes a noisy dash to the doggie door in response to something outside, I give a strong โ€œahโ€ and he stops and turns his head to look at me and I can see that heโ€™s thinking. Thatโ€™s when I give a big โ€œyesโ€ and he runs to me. I cheer every time.

What a session tonightโ€ฆ We went deep. We answered every question that came through the community and then somehow ended up down a few proper rabbit holes along the wayโ€ฆ the kind that actually change how you see your dog, not just what you do with them. If youโ€™ve ever felt like: ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ€œWhy isnโ€™t this working?โ€ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ€œAm I doing the right thing?โ€ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ€œWhy does my dog just lose it sometimes?โ€ Thereโ€™s something in this replay for you. We covered: ๐Ÿพ Real-life struggles from owners just like you ๐Ÿพ How to actually build calm, not just chase it ๐Ÿพ The small shifts that completely change behaviour ๐Ÿพ And a few honest truths most people wonโ€™t tell you This is one of those ones where if you implement even 10% of itโ€ฆ things start to click. Jump in, watch it back, and drop any follow-up questions below ๐Ÿ‘‡ Letโ€™s keep building calm dogs and even better homes together ๐Ÿค๐Ÿพ

Sunrise walks
We have lots to work on, but the girls love their morning walks. Have found 20 mins to be the sweet spot at the moment, they are doing great at stopping, sitting and waiting for walk at the road crossings and almost do it without verbal communication! Gotta love amateur photography ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think Iโ€™ll need to find sports mode or something to capture these two!! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We are looking forward to a week of practicing names and place commands ๐Ÿฉท

Are you walking them both on a regular lead? i would go straight for the slip lead on each :)

@Bee McKenna ahhh i see....i would suggest throwing out the sniffy time whilst getting calm walking under way ( lex and i start SUPER structured) ...impulse control & door manners first then structure walk/heal ( will be way easier with a slip lead! ) then when you get home scatter feed some kibble or whatever on the grass and they can have sniffy decompression at home ๐Ÿ˜‰ then i would crate for a nap for an hour. Later down the track i would offer freedom for sniffy time whilst out when you know they snap back into line when asked ๐Ÿฅฐ
