Pet Friendly Accommodation recommendations
Hi Fam . Would anyone have any recommendations for accommodation anywhere within 3 hours that accommodates large dogs? I've realised now our usual holiday destination will not suit Cas for a few more years๐Ÿคฃ So many pet friendly places arent fully fencedโ˜น๏ธ Hoping someone out there has somewhere good to recommend๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

Treats?
What soft, small high-reward treats are we using? Anything that doesnt require preparing or cutting up rolls? Lol

I took a pouch of the kibble I give Jess for "breakfast" this morning to try n distract from distractions Nah that didn't work today, so we did some long lead recall without treats. Went well. Did have a win or two though. Others were using the park with their dogs, Jess stopped to look and that's it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
Nail cutting
Hi Walkies fam , just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a place that cuts nails that can handle large excitable dogs๐Ÿ™‚

@Jody Eldridge Plus you don't want a groomer talking you into more "grooming" We had a shower this morning, that's our grooming ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜

@Sian Isaac Thank you. I wasn't sure what to do this morning, I dropped off Jess, another dog and his people arrived .. so I kinda left ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Still unsure of the way to do things.
Old dog new tricks
No, not talking about my maybe 3 or 4 or no idea how old Jess! Talking about me. Please excuse the waffle. I know why it took me a long time to discover "Walkys". I was busy getting old, being overly anxious about everything, and had the thought I should be able to do all of this myself. Apparently, I was wrong. And I'm ok with that. This training at home, didn't even know it existed. I thought you simply grab a dog, grab a lead, go walking. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ It's been 2 weeks since Jess and I met @Matthew Marsh , 1 week since Jess's first day at the academy, Jess is much calmer and stays outside for minutes by herself (instead of seconds). While I attended the weekly "calm collective" Jess put herself in "place" that I only set up this morning and just now had some food nearly in her crate. Winner Winner ๐ŸŽ‰ I am hoping the walking will get easier. Knowing now that the harnesses that I spent much money on were probably the reason of her pulling when we went for walks has been difficult. I am still not comfortable with the slip lead, let alone Jess be comfortable with it. But I'm determined to be a better person for Jess! Thank you everyone, Kat ๐Ÿพ

@Jennifer Mcfarlane Thank you ๐Ÿ’œ I know I'm out of my depth with her, but hey, she chose me ๐Ÿ™„ I sometimes wonder what's going through her head, how she feels .. and then I sit with her on her lounge, she curls into a ball and falls asleep knowing that she's safe. That's love ๐Ÿ’•

Your Dog Hasnโ€™t Forgotten Their Training. The Environment Has Changed.
In todayโ€™s Calm Collective Live, Matt and I tackled two of the biggest myths we hear in dog training: ๐Ÿพ โ€œMy dog shouldnโ€™t need treats to perform behaviours.โ€ ๐Ÿพ โ€œWe need to remove treats as quickly as possible.โ€ Food isnโ€™t cheating, bribery or a sign that your training isnโ€™t working. Itโ€™s a powerful reinforcer, and when used properly, it helps your dog understand which behaviours are worth repeating. We also answered one of the most common questions we receive: โ€œMy dog is perfect at home, but as soon as we enter a distracting environment, they forget absolutely everything and lose their shit.โ€ The truth is, your dog hasnโ€™t suddenly forgotten their training. The environment has changed, the level of difficulty has increased, and the behaviour may not be as strong or generalised as you thought. In this replay, we break down why this happens, how distractions affect your dogโ€™s ability to perform, and how to build behaviours that hold up in the real world. Watch the replay, then let us know your biggest takeaway in the comments. ๐Ÿ’ฉ Extra points to anyone who comments with the exact number of shits Polly takes during this recording.
