Traditional strength training wins
Hey everybody I thought I'd share the study with you it's not the best study in the world but it is interesting. Of course what I like about it is strength training blew away the functional training and plyometric training groups. Hi just can't stand these functional training people! :)

Like gyms, who make money off memberships, these places that offer โ€œfunctional training โ€œ make their money off memberships, convincing people this is the proper way to train. I am in the best shape of my life never have done a functional class except when invited to one by an instructor. I truly canโ€™t believe people go to these week after week. The wear and tear on the body is more telling than the actual result. I always tell clients, if you only have time for one thing, do strength training then add everything else around this. I have clients that go to these classes 5 + days a week and if anything, it only interferes with their strength training. I donโ€™t talk them out of these classes but I donโ€™t think theyโ€™re helpful. I think the advantage these classes have over traditional strength training, is they create community, regardless of the result.
Does anyone do partner/couple introductory sessions?
I have more demand lately from couples, especially retired couples, who want to train together. I do train a couple of couples, but Iโ€™m wondering how other trainers are structuring the introductory session with two new people. Would love to hear your insights and perspective!

I train multiple people as partners. People actually like the break in between sets. I tell them it is harder solo. I think itโ€™s good to do what makes them feel most comfortable. I trained a couple Friday as an intro and they left so jazzed, feeling like they both received a great workout and they didnโ€™t have to do it alone. I like pairs when the couple is focused and each is encouraging the other. I donโ€™t like training couples when there is too much talking. It truly has never reduced conversion doing partner intros or single intros.๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Are there any plans to make women specific machines? As much as I love Medx, I find them to be large for women and the handle circumference large for womenโ€™s hands.

This is great! A client just asked me yesterday , can I still build muscle at 75? I told him absolutely. I always tell people, thereโ€™s only one way out of here, might as well get strong! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

@Justin Frost Hi Justin, I usually do some variation of a squat, pull and push which includes 6-8 exercises. Usually, this includes, a leg press, shoulder press, pull-down, chest press or dip, seated row, (I like to add in BW exercises, or non machines, whether this is push ups, bar holds, pull-ps, deadlift, BW abs( and usually finish the workout off with calves, ab rotation and or spine lumbar. Total time under tension is about 15-20 minutes. I find the more muscular, more conditioned one is, the less exercises one needs to get a good result. I prefer training just 1x weekly and find most clients can do it well and get a good result. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ
